Vanity unit: In the Workshop

Who said a vanity unit was just for your bathroom?

In this instalment of In the Workshop, we are creating a vanity unit. It is something brilliant for your bathroom. To be honest, it’s not just for your bathroom, it could be anywhere in your house! It suits your bathroom well but when you think about it, if it was painted, stained or oiled in a different way then it could be made suitable next to your front door. You could put some key hooks on it and have the peace of mind always knowing where your keys will be.

In our workshops, we work hard to make them available to everyone. This means that it really doesn’t matter whether you have had previous experience, we have a step-by-step guide to follow as well as our resident legend, Daz. Daz is the heart and soul of our workshops, and they really wouldn’t be where they are today without his guidance and expertise.

With the vanity unit, we construct a project that sees you getting involved in the process from start to finish. Stripping pallets, designing the size, shape and shelves on the piece right through to assembly and finishing touches. Yes, that’s right, you create a vanity unit all within 7 hours. Our workshops run from 8.45am-4pm, giving you a full day to work on this unit ready for if you’d like to take it home at the end of the day.

We do give you the opportunity to purchase your creation at the end of the session. All proceeds from the sales go back into The Recycle Project to fund more workshops.

So, if you’d like to come just for the experience and you didn’t want to take your creation away with you, that’s fine too! We can pop it in our shop and let someone else buy it.

We work hard to embed a circular economy into what we do, which is why all the wood that we work with is recovered or reclaimed from household recycling centres from around North Yorkshire.

All the items that you see for sale have either been donated to us or recovered too!

The vanity unit is one of seven different pallet work workshops that we run; you can easily head over to our dedicated workshop section on our website that will walk you through what we have available and how to book on. We have recently simplified our process to make it much easier to enrol.

It is one simple form now that is ready for you, and you simply tell us which course you would like to attend, and we will confirm this within two working days. Come and see us, make a vanity unit and share the word. We’d love to have you along.
