How we give back to our local community…
We save 20+ tonnes of waste every month, and find new ways to put it back into the community. We believe in really getting everything we can from a product or material before it goes to waste. We want to encourage our community to rethink waste and to learn the value of goods that still have a lot of life left in them. In terms of how we work we do accept some donations, which can be really helpful to the project, but we get most of our second hand items from intercepting the waste sites across North Yorkshire! We clean sort and sell these goods on, and with the profits made we can then fund our fun learning workshops, making them FREE to attend for all. This is how we want to give back. There are no doubt other learning courses and workshops available in the vicinity, but they usually cost people to attend. We wanted to be able to offer these experiences free of charge, and really inject some positivity and inclusiveness back into our local community!!!
Alongside the low-cost everyday items we sell, and our free Workshops, we also like to give back in other ways. We liaise with local charities and organisations and where possible donate things for free to try and help them out. We get people progressing into their own accommodation after been supported by the system, needing help with small item furniture and things for living independently. In situations like this, as long as it’s come through the charity, we really like to try and donate items for free if we can. We also recently donated a football table to a local children’s centre which went down a treat in the games room! If you are a charity or organisation and think we could work together in this sense please get in touch. We are keen to work with schools and sports clubs too, and would love to be able to give back as much as we possibly can! Keep an eye on our socials as we have also been planning some fun online giveaways, which will be taking place both weekly and monthly…we think these are going to really take off…be sure to follow our social media pages and get involved!!!
