Here at The Recycle Project we pride ourselves on turning waste into opportunity. We promote a circular economy and encourage a change in behaviour towards how wasteful everyone is or can be.
Saving over 20 tonnes of waste every single month directly from household waste sites across North Yorkshire, our mission is to recover as much waste as possible from landfill giving it a new lease of life back in the community.
The vision is to provide a safe community space. Offer free workshops centred around upcycling unwanted goods. This is something we believe will have many benefits to local people including wellbeing, environmental and economical.
We stock all kinds of everyday items, from furniture, sports equipment, toys and books, camping and outdoors equipment, as well as unique collectors and vintage items. There really is something for everyone.
I’ve worked in the recycling industry for over 10 years and have never ceased to be amazed at how wasteful we are as a society. I founded the project to explore ways we can reduce waste and turn it into a positive for the community.
I’m one of the original founders of the project and my passion and role within the project align perfectly. I manage logistics and have the task of getting recycled goods back into the community.
I previously ran my own business and worked in social care for over 10 years. I’m the charity/organisation liaison officer and oversee all our outreach work.
My role within the project is to develop, deliver and oversee all elements of our workshops. I have over 30 years of experience in woodwork and other trades.
